Mercutio Maddox

Meaning: Mercutio sounds like Mercury, a silver blue metal often used in hatmaking, particularly felting. Maddox comes from the Welsh, derived from the word, Mad.

Colour: Silver Blue

Role: While technically first in command, Principal of Arcadia Academy he spends much of his time disappearing into the wildlands on 'research' and finding new students that he's more of a figurehead.

Species: Maddox is a human, estimated in his forties but his face has an ageless quality about it. A bright beaming smile is constantly threatened to be engulfed by a shaggy mane of silver blue hair, usually capped with an unusual hat of the moment, possibly with 'a really awesome feather in it.'

Personality: Mercutio Maddox is affectionately known as Mad Maddox by the students. He's everyones favourite uncle, slightly unhinged and full of exciting stories, dangerous presents and precarious precedents that mummy Iris and daddy Marzo disapprove of.

He drops into class with a cackle and a story which immediately goes off tangent and ends with him slaying a powerful Grimm with kitchen utensils. One things for sure he definitely knows more than tells and that something keeps him awake at night, staring at the shattered moon.

After the Longest Night, Maddox was recognised as a hero by humans and faunus alike but he was a changed man with a broken team. He vanished into Ambrose's Mavro Mangrove forest, travelling far and wide and spending years in isolation, which may or may not have played a role on his loose grasp of reality. He has stared down the most dangerous Grimm in all of Vytal and can knows that they are just the crest of the wave, one that is building and building and may crash and plunge all of Ambrose in darkness.

At his heart he's an optimist and a wide eyed dreamer. He genuinely cares for every student under his wing, and loves one on one with those who struggle to find their way.

Weapons: Maddox wields a Variable Repeating Pistoleer's Longsword named "Hemiguinea." Or it may be named "Homogeny" and Mercutio just likes to say the name funny. Nobody knows for certain, but those two guesses are the closest anybody's ever come to writing down the name. Whenever anybody asks how its spelled, Mercutio simply taps the "10/6" inscription on the weapon's hilt, whatever that's supposed to mean.

Name aside, the weapon has two main forms and functions: A two-handed longsword and a large double-barreled pistol.

The pistol form of the weapon is quite large and surprisingly accurate a long range, while packing no small amount of punch in its twelve dust-reactor cogwheels. It requires a two-handed firing grip without a doubt, and even then the weapon still seems comically large, as if you'd have to be crazy to try firing the thing without a stock attached to it. Its size as a longsword is much more realistic, and it fulfills this role as a hacking and slashing weapon quite admirably, as evidenced by the weapon's venerable performance during The Longest Night.
