Gellvar took a shine to Indiana, who knows why but devised a character to fit with my fic-universe so I thought I'd give him a burl. I'm really happy with how it turned out and it's nice to see a friendly face in Freelancer!

Real Name: William
Age: 23
Alias: Kans, aka the nice guy, AKA the friggin berserker
Nationality: Born on Reach, he comes from northern european ancestry with a good dose of Irish.

Appearance: Kansas key feature is his winning grin, a genuine smile that reassures his teammates when the going gets tough. His lanky frame stretches even over the enormous Maine with spiny brown hair framing his face and trailing down his back in a ponytail.

Personality: Always trying to be the cool older brother to the other freelancer and is quick to reach out, sincere, earnest and trusting. He is the only one able to talk Tex out of her rages and other is always able to lend an ear when the tension of the Freelancer program gets to his teammates. When those under his wing are braving hell, he's at the forefront hurtling ahead to clear the way, his easygoing grin transformed into a vicious, bloodthirsty snarl.

However few of the Freelancers are as kind and understanding as Kansas, always wanting to see the best in others often finds himself taken advantage of and several times has been left hanging by less scrupulous Freelancers. But no matter how badly he's been scarred, he's always willing to help.

Fatal Flaw: Kansas is a bleeding heart, far too compassionate and gullible for his own good and to the point where a mission may be jeopardized. He can't leave a man behind and on more than one occasion his he's been unable to land the killing blow leading to more trouble that its worth.

However his biggest blindspot is the wretched Freelancer, Agent Indiana, a young woman who greatly resembles his lost sister whom he sees as his chance at redemption. He will defend her to the death in a berserker's blood haze, despite the fact she regards him as no more than convenient canonfodder.

Specialization: When it comes to weaponry Kansas is a jack of all trades but with his enormous build and frontline training, Kansas thrives on in melee combat. But with his big body and gawky movements, stealth is not his friend nor is his sniper rifle.

Armour: Scarred and battered Mark VI armour in gold with white secondary but had to be refitted to accommodate his behemoth build.

Armour Enhancements: Kansas possesses Enhanced Armour Lock, which generates a clinging energy field able strong enough to reflect all force and energy weapons, twice as strong, twice as fast and twice as enduring as his counter part. However the enhancement requires a vast diversion of the amour's battery resources reducing his movements to a rigid standstill.

AI: With his armour and enhancement, Kansas was assigned Chi who resembles a Buddhist monk in saffron robes. The project's scientist were unaware Chi represented the Alpha's compassion and expected little of the gentle giant. They were dead wrong because as they say, 'beware the gentle man's wrath' as it focused into powerful drive to protect the ones he cares about, tearing into Covenant ranks link tank.

Chi sees Indiana's exploitation of her partner and his self destructive loyalty. For his sake he plans to to get inside her head and eliminate the scars left by Tau.

Preferred Weapons and Fighting Techniques: Master of the melee, Kansas dives in the fray with his experimental gravity hammer swinging and flameflower blazing. This gives him an excuse to discard his more fiddly weapons and descend into violent frenzy, ripping and tearing away at the things who robbed him of his family.

Backstory: Kansas was born and bred on planet Reach with his mother, father and younger sister but even at a young age he earned a scholarship at a prestigious military school on Earth. On his nineteenth birthday he waited at an airport to pick up his sister but instead was delivered the devastating news of the fall of Reach. Although he knows he could not help his family, he is wracked with the guilt of their death, his sister in particular. Driven to protect others from the same fate, Kansas graduated with honours and was drafted into a secret project testing the effects AI on super soldiers. When he first arrived on base he was astonished by the selfish mentality of his peers, soon ignored, avoided and followed in equal measure but always reaching out to make friends.
