About time I did a new update on Indiana including the art. Welcome to V5, bloody hell she's grown. Differences you can see is the change of her main weapon to her pugil stick, and I was deadset debating on using a modified Covenant Stave but this suits reluctance to kill a bit more. Also removed is her crush and solidified her jealousy of Tex. Admittedly I'm hugely jossed by the canon but I've put so much into her, why back out now.

Requests: I no longer do requests but this group has been my To-Do list.Use:
The RvB fellas are kind enough to let me use their world for whatever my hearts desires, so I can't very well slap a demand on the use of Indi. She's free for use in all mediums, no permission required although I'd love to see where she turns up!Setting:
Irritatingly Australian with a broad occa accent that practically requires a translator, a role unfortunately supplied by Donut.Appearance:
Indi left the organisation a trembling wreck. Like many Freelancers her hair shows early greying, a colour that can only be described as Old Lady with Cataracts Blue
, often oily from lack of attention and grown out into a shaggy mat with a long rat tail bound at the nape of her neck. Her naturally petite body tends to be lost in bulky clothes to obscure the fact she drinks most of her meals and her once lovely olive coloured skin has the sallow complexion of liver abuse with a lattice work of pale scars. Her sucken brown eyes are red rimmed and even the whites seem dirty. She's as erotic as a toast rack which is just as well as she has the libido of dead sheep.
Her body has been augmented to better use her technopathy enhancement with the implantation of subcutaneous wires extending from her wrists, that connectsand connect directly with the neural implant at the base of her neck, thus damaging the wires damages her.Personality:
Agent Indiana is the small yappy terrier you'd dearly like to kick but know the guilt isn't worth it. Since being forced to join Wash's Barmy Army in persuit of Tex, she's determined to make them regret their decision by being as nastily annoying as possible.
Her default expression is an anxious, lunatic grin and her highstrung nature makes her acutely vigilant of her surroundings. At the back of every thought is the litany of 'Run! Run! Get out! Run!
Watching Indi is often exhausting because she's constantly adjusting her body to make a clean getaway. Her first instinct is always to run and her second is to squeeze herself into cracks that would make a contortionist wince. If both choices have been exploited she will fall back on her third strategy, and by fall back we mean "Hurl herself at the floor, adopt the foetal position and hope she's too pathetic to be worth the trouble."
Dignity is for other people.
Indiana's anxiety is barely controllable and exascabated by the multiple personalities running through her head. Before he was erased, Tau used Indi's brain as wetware to store the information required to run the suit (the data of human brainsignals and lots of them). Although she tends to have flashes from all her previous victims there are three main ones. The first is a mental manifestation of Tau, constantly criticizing and taunting her until you couldn't fill a teaspoon with her selfesteem, the second is a fragment of Tex from when they attacked and the third is Aleph, a mysterious entity that is slowly pushing her to help Church find the real Tex. All of them are jockeying for position in a head already crowded with neurosis.
She has found only one way to medicate these problems, alcohol. Copious, stink from the pores, drunk.[link]How Were They Recruited:
Freelancer candidates were chosen for their unique Alpha Rhythm brainwave. It occurs during the upper levels of sleep before dreaming but also accentuates motor anticipation- hence its usefulness in Spartan armour.
Dr. Leonard Church's alpha brainwave barely registered and when he split the Alpha to produce its fragments each of the candidates required a similar pattern for optimal synchronization (hence why Caboose attracts AI). Although extremely rare, the Covenant War meant anyone with a medical record was at their disposal. Thirty-nine of forty-nine candidates were found via the military while the final ten were found via military funded universities. The armour enhancements and AI were developed and matched to a candidate with the correct Alpha Rhythm frequency.Armour:
Indiana wears the standard Mk 6 Spartan armour that has turned a faded dishwater grey and smokey violet because it was drafted as a scarecrow for a few seasons. It was developed to fit her petite physique, but by making it lighter it was less resilient and with many layers of memory-processor superconductive weave used in storing AI. Uniquely, several cables can extend from the wrist allowing her to use her enhancement.Armour Enhancements:
There were several candidates before Indiana who were matched with Tau and the technopathy enhancement and although each were able to access it's primary function, the ability to jack into a virtual visualisation of a computer network none of them could access it's more potent abilities.
Uncontrollable at first, the technopathy enhancement can affect anyone with the neural implant used to operate Spartan armour. It allows Indiana to enter a victim's subconscious and manipulate it like a lucid dream.
In order to use it effectively it required Tau to copy and cache the neural impulses of a victim and store it for future reference but even modified suits quickly jammed with an information overload. However Tau was inventive and found a way around it. A human mind is huge, with less than 3% of its potential used, lots
of empty space, but every candidate fought him. A specific mind was necessary, one that was imaginative but impressionable and submissive, allowing him to bank the data in the candidate's brain; referred to as wetware. The other candidates were far too strongwilled and the naive Indiana was perfect; mousy, shy and with a strong sense of duty.
Indi's ability to manipulate an individual depends on how close they conform to an average mindset, so the more data Tau collected the more powerful the enhancement became but is still no guard against a sick or deranged mind which is more like being trapped in someone's nightmare.
Once connected both bodies become inert and vulnerable, and she is immersed in virtual representation of the victim's mind. From there she can access memories or plant suggestions. She has to be careful or she'll set up a memory loop which can last minutes or the rest of someone's life. Although it's theoretically possible, she's never killed using this method. AI:
Tau was assigned to several potential Freelancer's before Indi was seen as the last resort, bottom of the barrel. He represented the Alpha's Envy, a deep, resentful hunger for everything other people had that they didn't. He became extremely possessive of Indiana, turning her against others with the voice of a second hand car sales man; coaxing, comforting and reassuring her while playing her self doubt like a xylophone until she was terrified and hateful everyone around her. After Indi's breakdown he was removed but the damage was done and lives as a the devil on her shoulder, still beating her down.
He rarely projected himself for others, a bright orange minotaur with long curved horns wearing grecian breastplate, fustenella and greaves. Instead he would use Indi's own brain to hallucinate his chosen form in reflections, sometimes even to the point where she imagined she could feel his warm, snuffling breath on the back of her neck.Specialization:
Once the secondary traits of the enhancement were discovered Indiana was naturally recruited for interrogation. She worked mostly internally in dark rooms on prisoners brought back by field agents, painlessly gaining the information needed. Occassionally she was required on field missions, to plant a suggestion or gain information from higher ups without the target going missing but due to her unreliable nature was always escorted.Preferred Vehicles, Weapons and Fighting Techniques:
It's not so much her preferred weapon but the democratic opinion of everyone who doesn't want to be accidently be shot with thirty rounds a second that she wield no more than a pistol, and even then she uses it reluctantly. She flinches away from the hard recoil, loud noise and instant death that comes with it. She isn't incompetent, but an aversion to killing means she prefers stunning an enemy.
For that reason, her primary weapon is her pugil stick, staffs with nodules on either end that can unleash a deadly electrical charge. They are commonly used by Freelancers in close combat training but Indiana's has been modified for field use being both collapsible and magnitised to attach to her waist for easy reach. It can deliver a strong electric jolt to stun victims just before she jacks in or charged for a lethal blow.
If forced into hand to hand combat Indiana hasn't the strength or stamina to defeat an enemy, instead choosing quick unrolling combinations designed to stun and give her enough time to run.Backstory:
One of the last recruited from a bookish lifestyle, Indiana didn't adapt well to military training. She was taken into the field only when necessary and always under supervision. Instead once they saw her perfection of the technopathy enhancement she was restricted to Command to deal with prisoners where she could painlessly gain the information required. Despite her cowardly personality she was trained to be just as deadly as her fellow agents. She had an unexpected knack for acrobatic martial arts and expected talent in finding the smallest holes possible to curl up inside until danger had passed.
When required in the field she was always escorted, and it was during these missions she met Tex. Tau was immediately drawn to the beautiful fem fatale, tormented by her extra training and attention, her talent and skill, and the admiration and respect of others. She was everything they weren't.
As the Freelancer Project began to shut down, Tau had gained a dangerous hold on Indi, until she had become the crazy on the bus who smells like they've been marinating in metho. She was obsessively fixated on Tex; the talented beautiful Freelancer who was everything she wanted to be.
As Epsilon and Wash lay unconscious after their mental breakdown, Indi, Tex and Wyoming were in the field tasked with eliminating a rebel base and wondering how this would affect their fate. O'Malley and Tex made a jab at Indi and she finally snapped in violently spectacular fashion. She threw herself at the black Freelancer in a frenzied attack. Just in time she was able jack-in to Tex's armor, and her mind.
For several minutes the two slumped in silent tableu when suddenly both reeled to conciousness. Tex was battle ready but Indi released a strangled scream and fell to her knees. The last thing she said before she slipped into a three week coma was one breathy word, "Aleph..."
While in her coma, Tau was removed and the AI implantation facet of Freelancer officially shut down. She was useless and the Director disgarded her to the streets. She found her way back to her hometown in Australia only to find out her family had been given news of her death in battle. Heartbroken, schitzo, pathetic and a failure, she wanted her family to remember her as a hero so she left them and moved to the city using her armour to hack into bank accounts and secure a living, taking up drinking as her fulltime job.
That is until Project Freelancer came roaring back into the headlines. Suddenly everyone wants to find Tex, and she's the only one with the link to do it. Shanghaied by Wash and his barmy army from Blood Gulch, they set off across the galaxy. Fanfiction: [link]

"And then I pissbolted."
"A lot like bolting but with more to lose than just your life. Dignity mainly."
"Look I know my constant attempts to escape, kill, maim, hide, smother you in your sleep, poison your food, disable your vehicles, pawn your equipment and sell you as slaves in the outer colonies in exchange for sparkly drinks with funny little umbrella's may be deceiving, but I really, really don't like you."[link]
All around them the peaceful sounds of the Australian bush chirped and yet Agent Indiana drew herself up to her full five feet, folded her arms and cocked an eyebrow with the snap of someone throwing down a gauntlet.
"So let me get this right; you want me to go walkabouts and save your unfaithful bushpig ex-girlfriend, and my personal shedemon from the threats of crazed AI hunters, Section 3, murderous ex-teammates and your main selling point is, You’ll survive.
"This guarantee is provided by, and correct me if I’m wrong, a man two parts dry humour and five parts homicidal, a sergeant so far past his usedby date he’s the blue cheese of the army, a sycophantic cyborg who keeps staring at my chest in hopes breast will appear, a fat lazy Hawaiin who’s armpits are against the Geneva Convention, a blue boofhead with an IQ that puts a venus fly trap to shame and yourself, a rampant AI who I can by all right blame for my alcoholism, sleeping disorder and fear of intimacy..." In the distance a kookaburra cackled as the silence drew out. "I’d rather eat my own arsehole."
Caboose's thousand yard gaze suddenly came to life with alien threat, an expression so unfamiliar to his cheery features it was like being savaged my a sheep.
"You’re going to do this and I’m going to tell you why,” Church-within-Caboose bristled. “Because you’re liver disease on legs with nothing better to do that marinate in your own filth, because you have a responsibility against the Director, because you're the only one in contact with Tex and because I'll hogtie you and drag you if you don't."
Indi stared down the enormous Caboose and grinned nastily. “I'm a fucking Freelancer. Have. A. Bloody. Go."
Less than a minute later she found herself bound, foot and hands and slung on a stick between Grif and Simmons, neither gentle in the circumstances. Grif, pointedly bouncing into the path of pointy rocks, said with the leer of someone who'd spent the last ten minutes thinking up something witty. "So, what's your favourite condiments? I personally prefer Uncle Bob's Fry Til You Die hotsauce."Use:
