My latest OC, sorta the Kidd upgrade as I really started to sit down and think things through... and finally get to see Reconstruction beginning to end. Frig it was too awesome for words, hilarious and intense. I never intended to make a Freelancer, it would be all to easy to make a Mary Sue with L33t skillz womping ass, hopefully I've got a character who's disfunctional madness will make her fit in with everyone else. Besides, Tex is badass fem fatalle for everyone!

I don't think much of this piece of art, it's more of a visual reference that started when I was drunk, hence another character with one eye veiled. I don't know why.

Alias: Agent Indiana
Nationality: Irritatingly Australian with a broad occa accent that practically requires a translator.
Appearance: Indi left the organisation a trembling wreck. Like many Freelancers her hair shows early greying, a colour that can only be described as Old Lady with Cateracts Blue. It has grown out into a shaggy mat with a long rat tail bound at the nape of her neck. A naturally petite body is lost in bulky clothes to obscure the fact she drinks most of her meals and her once lovely olive coloured skin has the sallow complexion of liver abuse with a lattice work of pale scars. She's as erotic as a toast rack which is just as well as she has the libido of dead sheep.


Personality: Like many failures of the AI program, it left Indi mad as a spoon. She's a paranoid, touchy individual who freaks out at the slightest human contact. She's always wearing an anxious, lunatic grin and her highstrung nature makes her acutely vigilant of her surroundings. At the back of every thought is the litany of 'Run! Run! Get out! Run! Watching Indi is often exhausting because she's constantly adjusting her body to make a clean getaway.

All allies know to make small noticeable noises in her vicinity because if startled she is likely to squeal and fire in a manic arc. She's a coward. A nickname amongst the Freelancer's was Presto, because when you turned around, Hey Presto! She'd vanish into thin air. Trusting Indi at your back is like trusting a coin flip, either all for you or already running, fifty fifty chance of either and all results are independent.

It's made worse by the multiple personalities running through her head. Before he was erased Tau used Indi's brain as wetware to store the information required to run the suit (the data of an human brainsignals and lots of them). Although she tends to have flashes from all her previous victims there are three main ones.

The first is a mental manifestation of Tau, the devil on her shoulder constantly criticizing and taunting her until you couldn't fill a teaspoon with her selfesteem, the second is a fragment of Tex from when she attacked her and the third is Aleph, a mysterious entity that is slowly pushing her to help Church find the real Tex. All of them are jockeying for position in a head already crowded with neurosis.

She has found only one way to medicate these problems, alcohol. Copious, stink from the pores, drunk.

Freelancer Story: Freelancer candidates were chosen because of their unique Alpha Rhythm brainwave which occurs during the upper levels of sleep before dreaming, but also accentuates motor anticipation- hence its usefulness in MJOLNIR armour. Dr. Leonard Church's Alpha brainwave barely registered and when he cloned the Alpha AI and produced its fragments each of the candidates needed similar waves for optimal syncronisation (hence why Caboose attracts AI ). It was extremely rare but fortunetly due the Covenant War almost everyone has some kind of blood record and of the millions in the military, 39 of 49 candidates were drafted from the military while the final ten were found via military funded universities.

The armour enhancements and AI were developed and matched to a candidate with the correct Alpha Rhythm frequency.

Armour: Standard Mk 6 MJOLNIR armour, it is a faded dishwater grey and smokey violet because it was drafted as a scarecrow for a few seasons. Because Indi was so small, her suit was developed to fit her smaller physique, making it lighter and less resilient and with many layers of memory-processor superconductive weave used in story AI. Several cables can extend from the wrist allowing her to use her enhancement.

Armour Enhancements: The AI Tau was matched with the technopathy enhancement but even though there were several candidates that matched the Alpha Rhythm the candidate needed something more.

The technopathy enhancement allowed the ability to jack into computer networks with virtual ease, able to collect information as easily as pulling a book off a shelf, Indi's favourite metaphor. However the enhancement's abilities don't stop there but only to a special few. If a soldier has Spartan augmentation (an neural implant on the back of the neck to operate MJOLNIR armour) it is possible to enter their mind, interpretting a victim's subconcious into a virtual representation allowing her to manipulate them like a lucid dream.

The enhancement uses Tau to copy the neural impulses of a victim, and stores it for future reference. However even though it's estimated we use less than 3% of the brain's potential the human mind is huge. Only a few could be stored before the suit jammed and not enough data to be useful in a combat situation.

A specific kind of brain was necessary, one that was imaginative but highly impressionable and submissive which would allow Tau to store data in the candidate's brain- referred to as wetware- and the others were far to strongwilled and the Indi that was first identified was perfect, mousy and shy and strong sense of duty to tolerate a hellova lot.

Indi's ability to manipulate an individual depends on how close they conform to an average mindset, so the more data Tau collected the more powerful the enhancement became but is still no guard against a sick or deranged mind which is more like being trapped in someone's nightmare.

Once connected both bodies become inert and vulnerable and she is immersed in a virtual visualisation of the victims mind. From there she can access memories or plant suggestions. She has to be careful or she'll set up a memory loop which can last minutes or the rest of someones life. Although it's possible, she's never killed using this method.

AI: Tau was assigned to several potential Freelancer's before Indi was seen as the last resort, bottom of the barrel. He represented the Alpha's Envy, a deep, resentful hunger for everything other people had that they didn't, and to hate them for it. He became extremely possessive, turning her against others. He had the voice of a second hand car sales man, coaxing, comforting and reassuring her while playing her self doubt like a xylophone until she was terrified and hateful of the other Freelancers.

After Indi's breakdown he was removed but the damage was done and lives as a the devil on her shoulder, still beating her down.

He rarely projected himself for others, a light reddishbrown man with slightly bovine features and long Bos indicus horns wearing grecian breastplate, fustenella and greaves.

Preferred Weapon: It's not so much her preferred weapon but the democratic opinion of everyone who doesn't want to be accidently be shot with thirty rounds a second that she only wield a pistol. She also keeps a taser handy to stun her victims just before she jacks in.

Backstory: One of the last recruited from a bookish lifestyle and didn't adapt well to military training, being too jumpy to go into the field. Instead worked mostly with infiltration training. She trained along side several other Freelancers but she quickly developed a crush on York, a confident man several years her senior who sometimes took her aside to give her tips. Tau was outraged but this didn't seem to have any effect so instead he was true to his name and played to her jealousy. It wasn't hard, like half the agents York was chasing the luscious fem fatalle, Tex.

As the Freelancer Project began to shut down, Tau had gained a dangerous hold on Indi who had fixated on Tex (crazy stalker fixation), the talented beautiful Freelancer who was everything she wanted to be, but also a bitch. Why would York want her?

While Epsilon and Wash had just had their violent breakdown wiping out several wings of SWORD Command, Indi, Tex, York and Wyoming were in the field tasked with eliminating a rebel base and wondering how this would affect their fate. O'Malley and Tex made a jab at Indi and she finally snapped- throwing herself in a frenzied attack at the black Freelancer. Just in time she able to jack-in to her armor, and her mind.

For several minutes the two slumped in silent tableu when suddenly both reeled to conciousness, Tex battle read but Indi released strangled scream and fell to her knees. Just before she slipped into a three week coma she whispered one breathy word, "Aleph..."

While in her coma, Tau was removed and the AI implantation facet of Freelancer officially shut down. She was useless and the Director disgarded her to the streets. She found her way back to her hometown in Queensland, Australia only to find out her family had been given news of her death in battle. Heartbroken, schitzo, pathetic and a failure, she wanted her family to remember her as a hero so she left them and moved to the city using her armour to hack into bank accounts and secure a living, taking up drinking as her fulltime job.
